Being sick is never fun when there’s a job that’s to be done.
As I rot upon my bed, no lessons fill their heads.
That alphabet made my belly burn. Day 2 done.
Just downloading tomorrow’s workout vids then I’m off to sleep. Yes, I am actually making a conscious effort to workout. I’ve been wanting to feel and look healthier and that means a “slight” lifestyle change.
It’s probably too early to really say I’m really “sticking to it” but I’ve learned that starting something good will probably change a few habits I should have gotten rid of long ago.
In case you’re wondering, for exercises I’m trying out Pilates based on this. (Ignore the title btw XD) Their YT channel was recommended by a friend then I found that they had a workout calendar for beginners. Finished DAY 1 today, it was challenging yet doable. I’m sure as I go along I’ll build up more stamina. Let’s see if I can get through 4 weeks of this. But personally, I like how the routine feels like I’m back doing some of ballet warmups back when I still danced.
Btw, I don’t think I’m fat. I’m probably the proper weight for my height but it doesn’t mean I have the same energy has I had 5 years ago. It’s the energy and alertness that I want back.
So far, I’m proud to say I think I’ve started my year on a good foot. I’ve begun by decluttering my room. It’s almost done so I can focus on budgeting later this week. I’ve been very disappointed with my spending habits since I graduated and I will not allow it to continue for much more. I have too many vacations, investments, seminars, gifts, and personal projects I could do with money I earn or save. I’ll probably find out about time deposits and concentrate on building up with small deposits at a time before trying out investing.
I will be using my tumblr to occasionally assess my progress so I hope you guys don’t mind seeing an occasional block of text on your dash.
These posts will not make sense sometimes btw. I’m gonna exercise both mentally and physically this year fo sho.
After a year or so of active persistence, I have finally trained myself to have ideas during practical hours of the day and to keep a record of some I may further expound on.
For years I have found it irksome to brainstorm just when I’m about to sleep cause let’s face it… who has found it easy to fall asleep after a dozen ideas or random thoughts have just crossed your mind. Plus, you’re either too sleepy to note down the idea or get too excited and lose a night’s rest getting it down on paper/canvas.
Sleeping should be a time when your mind can unwind and relax. You need sleep to function at your fullest potential. At most, I only review my day and what I have to do before I drift off to dreamland.
How I am able to avoid these nighttime wonderings comes down to the simple act of recalling things that had struck me visually, emotionally or mentally during the daytime. I have found that in doing so I have stopped “daydreaming” or spacing out because when an idea starts forming my mind starts to focus on the thought. When I think I have something practical, I share it with friends who I think can help me develop it further.
By the way, sharing ideas is important! Keeping it to yourself for too long means no NEW idea or perspective would ever come in contact with your original thought leaving you without any improvement. An idea should grow even if it ends up totally different from what was planned. Conceptualizing is a process, not a instant event. Plus, words have a certain power. When spoken out loud it may find root and feel more “solid”, more “possible”.
After discussing, there is of course a filtering of options. My thoughts are most often inline with making something with a story so usually the next step is to think of the medium. Ideas should not just stay ideas. Help them come into the world in physical form be it as a comic, video or dance. The thought cycle would come alive again as you think of how you can make this idea come to life.
This is how I’ve started to spend my “downtime” for a year and a half now.
When I’m in a taxi on the way to a party, I might think of how Idea No. 1 might turn out if the lead was a lady. While I’m cleaning my room Idea No. 2 finally starts to make sense after last week’s discussion with a friend. Idea No. 3 gets better when I connect a random seemingly unrelated comment from a news reporter to the story’s world. A friend’s FB stat helps give birth to Idea No. 4.
Ideas are everywhere. I just finally found my way to recognize them. I hope that in this little ramble, you might start to find your way as well.
I do get still have ideas before I sleep… when I do I have a notebook by my bedside to jot it down before it disappears.
